Medusa was seriously misunderstood. Yes! She had a head full of hissing snakes. Yes! She turned all who looked at her, directly, into stone. And last but not least, some dude named Jason and his posse called the Argonauts, messed up her day and turned her into stone. What gall!
If most would have given her the time of day, maybe she would have been calmer. Else, she could have channeled her energy with a bit Buddhism. Finally, Zhumba 2-3 times per week and she’d have been straight.

Anywho! My piece, aptly named ‘Deusa’ pays homage to Medusa. Additionally, I dedicate this work to folks like me how are as understood, different or a bit left of center.
The backing is simply brown wrapping paper in keeping with my DIY roots. Since Medusa was my inspiration I wanted to create a vibrant, impressionistic vision of her. Therefore, color is everywhere. Blues predominate the right side signifying calmness and focus. Red predominate the lest signifying heat, uncontrol and passion. My ‘Deusa’ like me embodies a duality. Furthermore, I used Sharpies, Crayola Crayons, Crayola Magic Markers, chalk, pens and oils to create the piece. I want the viewer to feel the wild textures in their soul. I want viewers other senses to be active and engaged when they view the pieces.
It was fun to create the piece.
