:::::::::::: The ReMix (Mission Style)
This was a great Thrift Store Find. When we saw the piece it looked crappy. It had tons of scratches, a “poop” colored finish and multicolored table tops.
There are many guidelines to select great pieces. First we look for unique pieces. Take a look. Where else can you find a unique piece like this one. Second, the bones must be great. This piece is made of “Sold” wood; it’s heavier that it appears in the pictures. Lastly, price is key. This piece cost 4 bucks.
The ReMix objective was to apply a new and refreshing finish to the piece. We accomplished the goal by sanding, sanding and more sanding.
Additionally, we were interested in including a mission style element to the table tops. We accomplished the using a masking technique.
It took lots of elbow grease and patience to complete the project. The outcome was more than we had hoped for.

Elena,
YOU ROCK! Thanks so much for the showing my project some love. When I saw the piece, it looked bad. But, I know that it was solid wood and it was a unique piece. Lastly, it was cheap. I paid 4bucks for the dang thing.
Yesterday, I was one your Flickr site. Glad to see that you’re growing.
Thanks for “liking” me on Facebook. And one more thing. I’m on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/thriftstoreremx
